Holotype: KU 7481. Paratypes: KU 7482 and 7483 (145); UMMZ 188902 [ex KU] (10); USNM 204129 [ex KU 7483] (10). •Synonym of Etheostoma spectabile (Agassiz 1854), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Lee et al. 1980:695 [ref. 22416], Page 1983:136 [ref. 22189], Robison & Buchanan 1988:439 [ref. 23393]). •Valid as Etheostoma fragi Distler 1968 -- (Ceas & Page 1997:512 [ref. 22902], Ceas & Burr 2002:213 [ref. 26533], Nelson et al. 2004:133 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2008:26 [ref. 30399], Page & Burr 2011:580 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:137 [ref. 32708], Page et al. 2023:199 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Etheostoma fragi Distler 1968. Percidae: Etheostomatinae. Distribution: North America: Arkansas (U.S.A.). Habitat: freshwater.
