trilineatus, Pomacentrus Cuvier [G.] (ex Ehrenberg) in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1830:428 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 5; ref. 999] Red Sea; Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Syntypes: MNHN 0000-8142 (1) Red Sea; Moluccas specimen lost; ?ZMB 2756 (1) Ehrenberg specimen. Type catalog: Bauchot et al. 1978:27 [ref. 20862] as holotype and lost paratype. Based on Ehrenberg description (with underlying ZMB syntype), and one MNHN specimen from Moluccas. Lectotype designation needed (based on Red Sea material) to stabilize current usage. •Valid as Pomacentrus trilineatus Cuvier 1830 -- (Dor 1984:187 [ref. 29757], Allen 1986:681 [ref. 5631], Allen 1991:251 [ref. 19344], Goren & Dor 1994:51 [ref. 25356], Randall 1995:267 [ref. 22896], Carpenter et al. 1997:197 [ref. 23922], Allen & Wright 2003:136 [ref. 27247], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S113 [ref. 27377], Fricke et al. 2018:274 [ref. 35805], Golani & Fricke 2018:117 [ref. 36273], Eagderi et al. 2019:97 [ref. 37020], Frable & Tea 2019:328 [ref. 36783]). Current status: Valid as Pomacentrus trilineatus Cuvier 1830. Pomacentridae. Distribution: Red Sea, Western Indian Ocean: East Africa and Persian Gulf to Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
