Lectotype: BMNH 1912.7.1.39. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1912.7.1.40 (1), 1912.7.1.41-44 (4); MOM 0091-2020; NMSZ 1921.143.459 (2 lots, 7). Type catalog: Herman et al. 1990:4 [ref. 20727]. Lectotype selected by Balushkin & Merrett 1996:543 [ref. 24651]; some paralectotypes referred to P. krefti. •Synonym of Patagonotothen longipes (Steindachner 1876), but a valid subspecies -- (Lloris & Rucabado 1991:121 [ref. 22530]). •Valid as Patagonotothen ramsayi (Regan 1913) -- (Nakamura in Nakamura et al. 1986:248 [ref. 14235], Pequeño 1989:65 [ref. 14125], López et al. 1996:51 [ref. 23681], Balushkin & Merrett 1996:543 [ref. 24651], Eastman & Eakin 2000:15 [ref. 24631], Cousseau & Perrotta 2000:126 [ref. 25942], Balushkin 2000:S97 [ref. 29555], López et al. 2002:66 [ref. 26808], Mabragaña et al. 2011:10 and table S2 [ref. 31800], Nión et al. 2016:51 [ref. 35565]). Current status: Valid as Patagonotothen ramsayi (Regan 1913). Nototheniidae: Nototheniinae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic and southeastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.
