Holotype (unique): BMNH 2012.11.8.6. •Synonym of Harpagifer georgianus Nybelin 1947, but a valid subspecies -- (Lloris & Rucabado 1991:99 [ref. 22530]). •Synonym of Harpagifer bispinis (Forster 1801), but a valid subspecies -- (Lloris et al. 1996:52 [ref. 23539], Pequeño 1999:173 [ref. 24566]). •Valid as Harpagifer palliolatus Richardson 1845 -- (Hureau 1990:362 [ref. 21698], Miller 1993:273 [ref. 21297], López et al. 1996:46 [ref. 23681] as paliolatus, Eastman & Eakin 2000:16 [ref. 24631], Balushkin 2000:S97 [ref. 29555], Eastman & Eakin 2021:[3] [ref. 38307]). Current status: Valid as Harpagifer palliolatus Richardson 1845. Harpagiferidae: Harpagiferinae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic: Falkland Islands. Habitat: marine.
