Plus other material. •Synonym of Dactyloscopus pectoralis Gill 1861, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:223 [ref. 22193]). •Valid as Dactyloscopus insulatus Dawson 1975 -- (Patzner et al. 2009:472 [ref. 30396], Hastings & Springer 2009:9 [ref. 31156], Page et al. 2013:167 [ref. 32708], Fourriére et al. 2016:449 [ref. 34668], Del Moral-Flores et al. 2016:610 [ref. 34923], Page et al. 2023:157 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Dactyloscopus insulatus Dawson 1975. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Revillagigedo Islands (Mexico) endemic. Habitat: marine.
