Holotype (unique): BMNH 1861.8.14.27 [ex Zool. Soc.] (poor condition). Locality is probably the southeastern Pacific off Chile (see Springer 1967:461 [ref. 30243]). •Valid as Hypsoblennius sordidus (Bennett 1828) -- (Springer 1967:461 [ref. 30243], Pequeño 1989:66 [ref. 14125], Stepien 1990:600 [ref. 19879], Bath 1996:90 [ref. 22687], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:249 [ref. 24555], Cancino et al. 1999:167 [ref. 24263], Bath 2000:176 [ref. 25102], Mundy 2005:464 [ref. 28379], Patzner et al. 2009:455 [ref. 30396], Cornejo et al. 2018:17 [ref. 36409]). Current status: Valid as Hypsoblennius sordidus (Bennett 1828). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Southeastern Pacific: Chile. Habitat: marine.
