Paratypes: ZMAU (4). •Synonym of Omobranchus ferox (Herre 1927) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:913 [ref. 20764]). •Valid as Omobranchus smithi (Rao 1974) -- (Springer in Randall & Lim 2000:633 [ref. 25122], Springer 2001:3545 [ref. 26290], Patzner et al. 2009:458 [ref. 30396], Kottelat 2013:384 [ref. 32989], Chakraborty et al. 2020:26 [ref. 38062]). Current status: Valid as Omobranchus smithi (Rao 1974). Blenniidae: Blenniinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: northeastern India east to Thailand and Vietnam. Habitat: brackish, marine.
