Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Persian Gulf, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Philippines (possibly Gambier Islands), north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
