Holotype: ANSP 100815. Paratypes: ANSP 100816 (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1984:105 [ref. 13621]. •Valid as Gobiosoma dilepis (Robins & Böhlke 1964) -- (Schmitter-Soto et al. 2000:167 [ref. 27754] as dilepsis Böhlke & Robins 1968, Rüber et al. 2003:1597 [ref. 26969]). •Valid as Elacatinus dilepis (Robins & Böhlke 1964) -- (Hoese & Reader 2001:157 [ref. 26035], Murdy & Hoese 2003:1793 [ref. 27111]). •Valid as Tigrigobius dilepis (Robins & Böhlke 1964) -- (Smith et al. 2003:65 [ref. 27621], Van Tassell 2011:156 [ref. 31732], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:80 [ref. 33341], Robertson et al. 2020:155 [ref. 38098], Parenti 2021:280 [ref. 38603], Page et al. 2023:124 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Tigrigobius dilepis (Robins & Böhlke 1964). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bahamas south to trinidad and Tobago, including southern Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
