Type catalog: Koumans 1940:188 [ref. 2676]. •Valid as Mugilogobius tagala (Herre 1927) -- (Akihito in Masuda et al. 1984:268 [ref. 6441], Zhu 1995:179 [ref. 25213]). •Questionably a synonym of Mugilgobius cavifrons (Weber 1909) -- (Larson 2001:102 [ref. 25522], Kottelat 2013:413 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:329 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Uncertain as Mugilogobius cavifrons (Weber 1909). Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
