Neotype designated by Abdussamad et al. 2023:12 [ref. 40617]. •Synonym of Scomberomorus guttatus (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Collette & Nauen 1983:65 [ref. 5375], Collette & Russo 1985:630 [ref. 5221], Collette 2003:11 [ref. 27312]). •Valid as Scomberomorus leopardus (Shaw 1803) -- (Jeena et al. 2022:20 [ref. 39335], Abdussamad et al. 2023:12 [ref. 40617]). Current status: Valid as Scomberomorus leopardus (Shaw 1803). Scombridae: Scombrinae. Distribution: Northern Indian Ocean: Bay of Bengal, north of Chennai and Andaman Sea, India. IUCN (2023): Not Assessed. Habitat: brackish, marine.
