Current status: Valid as Acanthurus sohal (Forsskål 1775). Acanthuridae. Distribution: Red Sea, northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden, Socotra, Gulf of Oman, Persian Gulf. One specimen recorded from Mediterranean Sea, probably an aquarium release. Habitat: marine.
