Syntypes: (numerous) BMNH 1912.3.22.80-89 (orig. 10). Species epithet a noun in apposition, therefore correct as argyrotaenia. •Synonym of Barbus zanzibaricus Peters 1868 -- (Lévêque & Daget 1984:298 [ref. 6186], Seegers et al. 2003:33 [ref. 28087] as 'Barbus'). •Synonym of Enteromius zanzibaricus (Peters 1868) -- (Hayes & Armbruster 2017:356 [ref. 35417]). Current status: Synonym of Enteromius zanzibaricus (Peters 1868). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Habitat: freshwater.
