tentaculata, Anaora Gray [J. E.] 1835:no page number, Pl. 90 (fig. 1) [Illustrations of Indian zoology; ref. 1878] Ambon Island, Molucca Islands, Indonesia. No types known. Type catalog: Fricke 1982:58 [ref. 5432]. Published about 20 Feb. 1835. As Amora on plate examined (2 copies), as Anaora in list of figures; Jordan 1919:179 [ref. 2410] regarded Amora as a misspelling; Sawyer 1953:54 [ref. 6842] lists only Amora. In footnote to list of plates (1835) it is stated, "In some copies a few of the names on the Plates are incorrectly printed but these are corrected in this list,..." That list uses Anaora, and in the case of Plate 90, the plate was apparently issued as the same time as the list of plates [the "list" is technically, "Directions for arranging the plates, of the numbers XI. to XX."]. •Valid as Anaora tentaculata Gray 1835 -- (Fricke 1982:57 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1982:58 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:49 [ref. 8349], Nakabo 1982:108 [ref. 3139], Nakabo in Masuda et al. 1984:345 [ref. 6441], Allen 1997:214 [ref. 23977], Myers 1999:231 [ref. 23965], Fricke in Randall & Lim 2000:634 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:1131 [ref. 25182], Allen 2000:117 [ref. 25868], Fricke 2001:3554 [ref. 26292], Nakabo 2002:1131 [ref. 26193], Fricke 2002:9 [ref. 26547], Allen & Adrim 2003:55 [ref. 26830], Myers & Donaldson 2003:641 [ref. 27495], Shibukawa et al. in Kimura & Matsuura 2003:172 [ref. 27510], Hoese & Bray 2006:1579 [ref. 29000], Allen & Erdmann 2012:843 [ref. 31980], Fricke et al. 2014:153 [ref. 33932], Fricke 2016:49 [ref. 34468], Fricke 2016:20 [ref. 34659], Fricke 2017:182 [ref. 35548], Fricke et al. 2019:263 [ref. 36673]). Current status: Valid as Anaora tentaculata Gray 1835. Callionymidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: eastern Indonesia east to Guam, Yap and new Ireland (Papua New Guinea), north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Western Australia and New Guinea.
