Also appeared as Bovichtus diacanthus Cuv. in Cuvier 1837:xvii, xviii [ref. 26488] with figure and description. •Valid as Bovichtus diacanthus (Carmichael 1819) [sometimes as Bovichthus] -- (Pequeño & Inzunza 1987:133 [ref. 11845] dating to Steindachner 1898, Andrew et al. 1995:24 [ref. 38009], Eastman & Eakin 2000:14 [ref. 24631], Balushkin 2000:S96 [ref. 29555], Fricke 2002:72 [ref. 26547], Near et al. 2019:[3] [ref. 36617], Eastman & Eakin 2021:[2] [ref. 38307]). Current status: Valid as Bovichtus diacanthus (Carmichael 1819). Bovichtidae. Distribution: Southern-central Atlantic: Tristan da Cunha endemic. Habitat: marine.
