Neotype designated by Iwatsuki et al. 2018:470 [ref. 35867]. •Synonym of Psammoperca waigiensis (Cuvier 1828) -- (Paxton et al. 1989:483 [ref. 12442], Allen et al. 2006:968 [ref. 29081], Kottelat 2013:323 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Psammoperca datnioides Richardson 1848 -- (Iwatsuki et al. 2018:470 [ref. 35867], Hoschke et al. 2019:156 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Psammoperca datnioides Richardson 1848. Latidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland (Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
