Paralectotypes: MNHN 0000-6528 (1) Chile, A-7699 (1, dry) Chile. Type information: Bauchot & Desoutter 1987:78 [ref. 12478]. Lectotype selected by López-Arbarello 2004:346 [ref. 28106]; a neotype (MNHN 2003-83) also was designated on p. 346; there can be no neotype while syntypes are in existence unless the ICZN is petitioned; the "neotype" has no standing. •Valid as Percichthys trucha (Valenciennes 1833) -- (Arratia 1982:8 [ref. 143], Pequeño 1989:59 [ref. 14125], Ruiz & Berra 1994:14 [ref. 21384], Campos & Gavilán 1996:99 [ref. 23442], Dyer 2000:85 [ref. 26678], Arratia in Reis et al. 2003:596 [ref. 27061], López et al. 2003:73 [ref. 27366], López-Arbarello 2004:345 [ref. 28106], Menni 2004:87 [ref. 28131], Koerber 2011:8 [ref. 31122], Koerber 2014:13 [ref. 33621], Mirande & Koerber 2015:55 [ref. 35117]). Current status: Valid as Percichthys trucha (Valenciennes 1833). Percichthyidae. Distribution: Pre-Andean streams of central and southern Argentina and Chile. Habitat: freshwater.
