gulosus, Parachromis Agassiz [L.] 1859:408 [Proceedings of the Boston Society of Natural History v. 6 (1856-1859); ref. 74] Lake Nicaragua. Lectotype: MCZ 16086. Paralectotypes: MCZ 144443 [ex MCZ 16086] (1). Entire description of the genus and the species is, "Of the four genera from Nicaragua, one, were it not for the interrupted lateral line, would resemble very closely Dentex; Prof. Agassiz proposed to call it Parachromis gulosus." Typically that would be regarded as not available, no distinguishing features provided; from Lake Nicaragua. •Treated as valid by Kullander & Hartel 1997:196, Fig. 1 [ref. 22732] with lectotype as MCZ 16086, and paralectotype as MCZ 144443 [ex 16086] (1). •The same as the younger Parachromis managuensis (Günther 1867) -- (see Bussing 1998:372 [ref. 24179], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:640 [ref. 27061], Mundy 2005:422 [ref. 28379]). Current status: Synonym of Parachromis managuensis (Günther 1867). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Habitat: freshwater.
