punctata, Sillago Cuvier [G.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829:413 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 3; ref. 4879] King George Sound, Western Australia. Lectotype: MNHN A-3148 (larger of 2). Paralectotypes: MNHN A-3148 (1 of 2). Lectotype selected by McKay 1985:46 [ref. 5265]. Sillaginodes is masculine, so punctatus is correct. •Valid as Sillaginodes punctata [sic] (Cuvier 1829) -- (McKay 1985:46 [ref. 5265], Paxton et al. 1989:562 [ref. 12442], McKay 1992:19 [ref. 20879], Gomon et al. 1994:573 [ref. 22532], Hutchins 2001:32 [ref. 25847], Paxton et al. 2006:1121 [ref. 29086]). •Valid as Sillaginodes punctatus (Cuvier 1829) -- (Kuiter 1993:163 [ref. 23929], Gomon 2008:567 [ref. 30616], Kaga 2013:97 [ref. 32686], Golani et al. 2013:433 [ref. 32789], Hoschke et al. 2019:156 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Sillaginodes punctatus (Cuvier 1829). Sillaginidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: New South Wales to southern Australia and to Western Australia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
