Syntypes: BMNH 1917.7.25.6 (left half skin attached to wood). Originally albo-maculatus, correction mandatory. •Valid as Paralabrax albomaculatus (Jenyns 1840) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:113 [ref. 22193], Grove & Lavenberg 1997:326 [ref. 24023], Rojas M. & Pequeño 2001:164 [ref. 25813], Pondella et al. 2003:182 [ref. 29770], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:191 [ref. 30957], Parenti & Randall 2020:120 [ref. 37354], Grove et al. 2022:21 [ref. 41326]). Current status: Valid as Paralabrax albomaculatus (Jenyns 1840). Serranidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) endemic. IUCN (2022): Endangered. Habitat: marine.
