Holotype (unique): BMNH 1983.7.13.1. Günther specimens: BMNH 1865.12.16.68 (4). Also appeared in Günther 1864:229 [ref. 1976]. Types previouly confused with Gobius seminudus, J. Maclaine email 8/10/2012. •Valid as Gymneleotris seminudus (Günther 1864) -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:265 [ref. 22193], Thomson et al. 2000:241 [ref. 25640], Nelson et al. 2004:172 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:162 [ref. 37547]). •Valid as Gymneleotris seminuda (Günther 1864) -- (Hoese in Fischer et al. 1995:1135 [ref. 22829], Van Tassell 2011:155 [ref. 31732], Page et al. 2013:177 [ref. 32708], Galván-Villa et al. 2016:149 [ref. 34871], Tornabene et al. 2016:13 [ref. 34435], Love et al. 2021:205 [ref. 39279], Parenti 2021:273 [ref. 38603], Page et al. 2023:123 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Gymneleotris seminuda (Günther 1864). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Ecuador, including southern and central Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
