xanthozona, Gobius Bleeker [P.] 1849:34 [Verhandelingen van het Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. v. 22 [6]; ref. 319] Surabaya, Java, Indonesia. Holotype: RMNH 4541 (smallest specimen of 3). Appeared without distinguishing features in list in Bleeker 1849:5 [ref. 320]. •Valid as Hypogymnogobius xanthozona (Bleeker 1849) (sometimes as xanthozonus) -- (Miller 1989:375 [ref. 13540], Kottelat et al. 1993:146 [ref. 23448]). •Valid as Brachygobius xanthozona (Bleeker 1849) -- (Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:636 [ref. 25122], Larson 2001:53 [ref. 25522], Larson & Murdy 2001:3600 [ref. 26293]., Kottelat 2013:403 [ref. 32989], Parenti 2021:306 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Brachygobius xanthozona (Bleeker 1849). Oxudercidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (Indonesia), Sarawak (Malaysia), Chao Phraya (Thailand), southern Vietnam. Habitat: freshwater.
