ionthas, Cerdale Jordan [D. S.] & Gilbert [C. H.] 1882:332 [Bulletin of the U. S. Fish Commission v. 1 (for 1881); ref. 2471] Off French Port, Panama. Neotype: USNM 207593. Original syntypes (USNM 29664, 3 specimens) apparently not received at USNM. Neotype designated by Dawson 1974:423 [ref. 7122]. •Valid as Cerdale ionthas Jordan & Gilbert 1882 -- (Dawson 1974:417 [ref. 7122], Allen & Robertson 1994:270 [ref. 22193], Parenti 2021:381 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Cerdale ionthas Jordan & Gilbert 1882. Gobiidae: Microdesminae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Costa Rica south to Ecuador. IUCN (2010): Data Deficient. Habitat: brackish, marine.
