Current status: Valid as Microlepidotus brevipinnis (Steindachner 1869). Haemulidae: Haemulinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern tip of Baja California Sur (Mexico) south to Peru, including Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
