Holotype (unique): USNM 48615 (poor condition). Type catalog: Springer & Anderson 1997:13 [ref. 22953]. •Valid as Derepodichthys alepidotus Gilbert 1896 -- (Anderson & Hubbs 1981 [ref. 5476], Toyoshima 1985:144 [ref. 5722], McAllister 1990:165 [ref. 14674], Anderson 1994:116 [ref. 21438], Mecklenburg et al. 2002:691 [ref. 25968], Anderson & Fedorov 2004:12 [ref. 27603], Love et al. 2005:139 [ref. 37547], Balushkin et al. 2011:975 [ref. 32449], Love et al. 2021:180 [ref. 39279]). Current status: Valid as Derepodichthys alepidotus Gilbert 1896. Zoarcidae: Lycodinae. Distribution: Northeastern Pacific: northern British Columbia (Canada) south to Pacific coast of Baja California (Mexico), including Gulf of California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
