Holotype (unique): MCZ 26947. •Valid as Orthopristis lethopristis Jordan & Fesler 1889 -- (Grove & Lavenberg 1997:408 [ref. 24023], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:192 [ref. 30957]). •Valid as Microlepidotus lethopristis (Jordan & Fesler 1889) -- (Tavera et al. 2018:221 [ref. 35783], Parenti 2019:164 [ref. 37021], Grove et al. 2022:20 [ref. 41326]). Current status: Valid as Microlepidotus lethopristis (Jordan & Fesler 1889). Haemulidae: Haemulinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) endemic. IUCN (2022): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
