CAS-SU 5515. Paralectotypes: (2) CAS-SU 6907 (1). Author is C. H. Gilbert. Also appeared as Gilbert in Gilbert & Starks 1904:128, Pl. 18 (fig. 36) [ref. 1639]; with lectotype established by use of "type specimen" in caption to Fig. 36. •Valid as Stellifer illecebrosus Gilbert 1898 -- (Hiyama in Kumada 1937:51 [ref. 39147], Allen & Robertson 1994:168 [ref. 22193] dated to 1904, Bussing & López S. 1994:124 [ref. 23101], Chao in Fischer et al. 1995:1504 [ref. 22830], Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:313 [ref. 24555], Chao 2001:79 [ref. 26029] dated to 1895, Nelson et al. 2004:148 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:153 [ref. 32708], Parenti 2020:52 [ref. 37439], Page et al. 2023:210 [ref. 40505], Siccha-Ramirez et al. 2023:411 [ref. 40816]). Current status: Valid as Stellifer illecebrosus Gilbert 1898. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Mexico south to Peru. Habitat: marine.
