Lectotype: BMNH 1940.2.15.2. Paralectotypes: (11) BMNH 1940.2.15.3-11 (10). Lectotype established as "Lectotype selected by Dr. P. Bănărescu (in press)" in Banister & Clarke 1977:140 [7232]. •Synonym of Garra quadrimaculata (Rüppell 1835) -- (Stiassny & Getahun 2007:66 [ref. 29119] dated to Rüppell 1836). •Valid as Garra tibanica Trewavas 1941 -- (Banister & Clarke 1977:140 [ref. 7232], Alkahem & Behnke 1983:560 [ref. 8384], Krupp 1983:607 [ref. 8320], Hamidan et al. 2014:235 [ref. 33626], Lyon et al. 2016:81 [ref. 34670], Freyhof et al. 2020:184 [ref. 37658], Esmaeili & Hamidan 2023:211 [ref. 40377], Çiçek et al. 2024:129 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Garra tibanica Trewavas 1941. Cyprinidae: Labeoninae. Distribution: Middle East: western Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Habitat: freshwater.
