spariformis, Dentex Ogilby [J. D.] 1910:91 [On some new fishes from the Queensland coast; ref. 3289] 36 miles south 12°West from Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia, depth 7 fathoms. Lectotype: QM I.1549. Paralectotypes: (5) AMS I.12538 (1); QM I.477 (1). Lectotype selected by Iwatsuki et al. 2007:40 [ref. 29100]. For remarks on types see Imamura & Hoese 2020:[8] [ref. 37793]. •Valid as Allotaius spariformis (Ogilby 1910) -- (Hutchins 2001:35 [ref. 25847]). •Synonym of Dentex tumifrons (Temminck & Schlegel 1843) -- (Carpenter 2001:3000 [ref. 26104], Bray et al. 2006:1228 [ref. 29091]). •Valid as Dentex spariformis Ogilby 1910 -- (Iwatsuki et al. 2007:39 [ref. 29100], Larson et al. 2013:140 [ref. 32988], Iwatsuki et al. 2015:114 [ref. 33802], Parenti 2019:61 [ref. 36892], Gloerfelt-Tarp & Kailola 2022:215 [ref. 41223]). Current status: Valid as Dentex spariformis Ogilby 1910. Sparidae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: Bali and Lombok (Indonesia), Northern Territory and Queensland (Australia). Habitat: marine.
