Zoologicheskogo Muzeya Rossiskoi Akademii Nauk v. 23 (no. 2) (for 1917); ref. 4159] Tatar Strait near Cape Grasevich, northern Japan Sea, depth 10 fathoms. Holotype (unique): ZIN 20168 (destroyed). Published 1922, not 1917. The holotype was destroyed during World War II, but a radiograph from the specimen is on file at ZIN (Anderson 1994:111 [ref. 21438]). •Valid as Bilabria ornatus (Soldatov 1922) -- (Lindberg & Krasyukova 1975:169 [ref. 7348]). •Valid as Bilabria ornata (Soldatov 1922) -- (Toyoshima in Masuda et al. 1984:306 [ref. 6441], Anderson 1994:116 [ref. 21438], Nakabo 2000:1030 [ref. 25182], Sheiko & Fedorov 2000:34 [ref. 25650], Nakabo 2002:1030 [ref. 26193], Anderson & Fedorov 2004:3 [ref. 27603], Anderson & Imamura 2008:63 [ref. 29573], Balushkin et al. 2011:958 [ref. 32449], Shinohara et al. 2014:263 [ref. 33330], Parin et al. 2014:383 [ref. 33547], Dyldin & Orlov 2021:843 [ref. 38925]). Current status: Valid as Bilabria ornata (Soldatov 1922). Zoarcidae: Gymnelinae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: Okhotsk and Japan seas. Habitat: marine.
