B.] 1955:108, Fig. 1 [Annals and Magazine of Natural History (Series 12) v. 8 (no. 86) (art. 14); ref. 4095] Polela Lake, near Inharrime, Mozambique, western Indian Ocean depth 2-3 meters. Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 196. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] (3) not found. •Valid as Croilia mossambica Smith 1955 -- (Maugé 1986:366 [ref. 6218] with genus as Croila, Hoese 1986:785 [ref. 5670], Skelton 1993:364 [ref. 24071], Kuiter 1997:356 [ref. 25488], Skelton 2001:364 [ref. 27406], Fricke et al. 2018:328 [ref. 35805], Parenti 2021:122 [ref. 38603], Larson 2022:70 [ref. 39971]). Current status: Valid as Croilia mossambica Smith 1955. Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to southrn Mozambique, east to Madagascar. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
