ternetzi, Microphilypnus Myers [G. S.] 1927:134 [Bulletin of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 68 (no. 3); ref. 3096] Caño de Quiribana near Caicara, Venezuela. Lectotype: CAS-SU 18080 (15.2 mm). Paralectotypes: CAS 76818 [ex IU 17702] (3 not 2), MCZ 31710 [as 31582 in orig.] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:107 [ref. 12291]. Lectotype selected by Caires & Figueiredo 2011:45 [ref. 31523]. The species ternetzi is selected over amazonicus, both species appearing in the same publication (see Caires & Figueiredo 2011:45 [ref. 31523]). •Valid as Microphilypnus ternetzi Myers 1927 -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:662 [ref. 27061], Thacker et al. 2006:491 [ref. 28798], Caires & Figueiredo 2011:45 [ref. 31523], Van Tassell 2011:148 [ref. 31732], Caires 2013:156 [ref. 33010], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:95 [ref. 35633], Guimarães-Costa et al. 2017:4 [ref. 35781], Caires & Toledo-Piza 2018:54 [ref. 35793], Parenti 2021:51 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Microphilypnus ternetzi Myers 1927. Eleotridae: Eleotrinae. Distribution: South America: widespread in Amazon and Orinoco basins (Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
