D.] (ex Johnston) 1919:215, Pl. 33 (fig. 1) [Records of the Australian Museum v. 12 (no. 10); ref. 15219] Wedge Bay, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, depth 5-10 fathoms. Lectotype: TMH D.142/13023 [old no. 10934]. Paralectotypes: (25) AMS I.7516 (3), I.14201 (?24). Type catalog: Koumans 1940:160 [ref. 2676], Andrews 1971:2 [ref. 31471], Andrews 1992:112 [ref. 22689]. Appeared first as name only in Johnston 1903. Originally as (Gobius) hinsbyi Johnston; validly published by McCulloch & Ogilby. Technically the described specimen should be regarded as the lectotype. Hoese & Larson 2006:7 [ref. 28905] treat a holotype. •Valid as Nesogobius hinsbyi (McCulloch & Ogilby 1919) -- (Kuiter 1993:353 [ref. 23929], Gomon et al. 1994:802 [ref. 22532], McKay & Miller 1997:1468 [ref. 24951], Hoese & Larson 2006:7 [ref. 28905], Hoese & Larson 2006:1667 [ref. 29097], Hoese & Larson 2008:765 [ref. 30660], Hammer et al. 2015:374 [ref. 34092]). Current status: Valid as Nesogobius hinsbyi (McCulloch & Ogilby 1919). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Australia: Tasmania and Victoria. Habitat: marine.
