polli, Oxylapia Kiener [A.] & Maugé [A. L.] 1966:75, Fig. 23 (7) [Mémoires du Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle Serie A Zoologie v. 40 (no. 2); ref. 2605] Tamatave, Marolambo region, Madagascar, elevation 450 meters. Holotype: MNHN 1965-0317 (larger specimen). Paratypes: MNHN 1965-0317 (1), MRAC 164794-95 (1, 1), UMMZ. Type catalog: Fricke et al. 2018:251 [ref. 35805]. The original authors on p. 77 stated that the larger specimen in Paris is "désigné comme lectotype ..." We (WNE) regard that action, although technically not following the code, as identifying a single specimen as the type. A lectotype apparently cannot be designated in the original publication. •Valid as Oxylapia polli Kiener & Maugé 1966 -- (Maréchal & Gosse 1991:352 [ref. 20961], Reinthal & Stiassny 1997:354 [ref. 22780], Allgayer 1997:14 [ref. 23769], Sparks 2002:547 [ref. 26376], Sparks 2003:324 [ref. 27400], Sparks & Stiassny 2010:46 [ref. 30695], Fricke et al. 2018:251 [ref. 35805]). Current status: Valid as Oxylapia polli Kiener & Maugé 1966. Cichlidae: Ptychochrominae. Distribution: Eastern Madagascar. Habitat: freshwater.
