Paratypes: QM I.1451 (1). •Synonym of Parablennius tasmanianus (Richardson 1842), but a valid subspecies -- (Bath 1989:298 [ref. 13310], Bath 1996:91 [ref. 22687], Johnson 1999:746 [ref. 25471], Springer 2001:3545 [ref. 26290]). •Valid as Parablennius intermedius (Ogilby 1915) -- (Kuiter 1993:336 [ref. 23929], Kuiter 1997:326 [ref. 25488], Hoese & Bray 2006:1559 [ref. 29000], Bath 2008:79 [ref. 29600], Patzner et al. 2009:458 [ref. 30396], Larson et al. 2013:181 [ref. 32988]). Current status: Valid as Parablennius intermedius (Ogilby 1915). Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Eastern and northern Australia and New Caledonia; possibly the Solomon Islands. Habitat: brackish, marine.
