Syntypes: (3 stations) SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 11072-73 (1, 1). •Valid as Owstonia weberi (Gilchrist 1922) -- (Smith-Vaniz 1986:728 [ref. 5718], Liao et al. 2009:522 [ref. 30453], Bineesh et al. 2011:64 [ref. 31609], Smith-Vaniz & Johnson 2016:93 [ref. 34879], Fricke et al. 2018:250 [ref. 35805], Liao et al. 2022:129 [ref. 39628], Smith-Vaniz 2022:317 [ref. 39947]). Current status: Valid as Owstonia weberi (Gilchrist 1922). Cepolidae: Owstoniinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and East Africa (Mozambique, Kenya) east to Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
