argenteus, Parapempheris von Bonde [C.] 1923:11, Pl. 2 (fig. 2) [Report Fisheries and Marine Biological Survey, Union of South Africa Rep. 3 (art. 1); ref. 521] Ponta Malongane, 26.7666°S, 32.9000°E, Mozambique. Old locality: KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, southwestern Indian Ocean, Pickle station 188, depth 32 fathoms. Neotype: SAIAB 50530. Neotype designated by Randall & Bogorodsky 2016:6 [ref. 34332]. Combined with a feminine genus the specific adjective should have been argentea. •Synonym of Parapriacanthus ransonneti Steindachner 1870 -- (Heemstra 1986:669 [ref. 5660]). •Valid as Parapriacanthus argenteus (von Bonde 1923) -- (Randall & Bogorodsky 2016:6 [ref. 34332], Randall & Victor 2022:94 [ref. 39910]). Current status: Valid as Parapriacanthus argenteus (von Bonde 1923). Pempheridae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
