Type catalog: Bauchot & Daget 1972:68 [ref. 20898]. •Valid as Sparodon durbanensis (Castelnau 1861) -- (Smith & Smith 1986:593 [ref. 5710], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:240 [ref. 28072], Parenti 2019:88 [ref. 36892], Iwatsuki & Heemstra 2022:314 [ref. 39785]). Current status: Valid as Sparodon durbanensis (Castelnau 1861). Sparidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Western Cape, eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) north to southern Mozambique. Habitat: marine.
