Holotype (unique): BMNH 1908.12.11.5. •Valid as Pharyngochromis darlingi (Boulenger 1911) -- (Skelton 1991:376 [ref. 20950], Poll & Gosse 1995:263 [ref. 24781]). •Synonym of Pharyngochromis acuticeps (Steindachner 1866) in part-- (Greenwood 1992:39 [ref. 21075]). Current status: Synonym of Pharyngochromis acuticeps (Steindachner 1866). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Southern Africa. Habitat: freshwater.
