Unique holotype (ZMB 22222) considered lost by Greenwood, and he designated a neotype (Greenwood 1957:76 [ref. 12139] as BMNH 1956.9.17.1). Seegers 2008:166 [ref. 29830] found the holotype. •Valid as Haplochromis sauvagei (Pfeffer 1896) -- (van Oijen et al. 1991:171 [ref. 20956], Seegers 2008:166 [ref. 29830]).
