Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 252. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 16779-80 (2, 2), 17270 (2), 17528-31 (1, 2, 4, 4). •Valid as Hetereleotris nebulofasciata (Smith 1958) -- (Hoese 1986:13 [ref. 5996], Hoese & Larson 2005:15 [ref. 28571], Shibukawa 2010:90 [ref. 30808], Fricke et al. 2018:333 [ref. 35805], Kovačić et al. 2019:504 [ref. 36728], Parenti 2021:185 [ref. 38603], Larson 2022:108 [ref. 39971]). Current status: Valid as Hetereleotris nebulofasciata (Smith 1958). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: East Africa (Mozambique, Kenya) east to Comoros and Madagascar. Habitat: marine.
