Current status: Valid as Gymnammodytes cicerelus (Rafinesque 1810). Ammodytidae. Distribution: Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: Portugal south to Angola. Habitat: brackish, marine.
