dorsalis, Trypterigium Clarke [F. E.] 1879:291, Pl. 15 (lower left) [Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute v. 11 (art. 25) (for 1878); ref. 18006] Mouth of Hokitika, New Zealand. Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Gender of genus Blennodon is masculine; therefore correct species name dorsalis. Original genus should have been Tripterygion. •Valid as Blennodon dorsale (Clarke 1879) -- (Hardy 1987:159 [ref. 5959], Paulin et al. 1989:220 [ref. 24556], Paulin & Roberts 1992:76 [ref. 24625], Fricke 1994:140 [ref. 21827], Fricke 1997:562 [ref. 23339], Patzner et al. 2009:444 [ref. 30396], Feary et al. 2009:1704 [ref. 30938]). •Valid as Blennodon dorsalis (Clarke 1879) -- (Fricke 2009:52 [ref. 30394], Stewart & Clements 2015:1500 [ref. 34299] as dorsale). Current status: Valid as Blennodon dorsalis (Clarke 1879). Tripterygiidae: Tripterygiinae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: New Zealand region. Habitat: marine.
