Reihe D, Biologie No. 25; ref. 7262] Northeast of Mombasa, Kenya, 1°18'S, 41°56'E to 1°19.8'S, 41°53'E, depth 220-178 meters. Holotype: ZMH 5533. Paratypes: ZMH 5332 (2), 5334 (30). Type catalog: Wilkens & Dohse 1993:419 [ref. 21161]. Fricke 2002:14 [ref. 26547] considered the southern Red Sea material [ZMH 5332] of Diplogrammus africanus Kotthaus 1977 as belonging to Callionymus bentuviai Fricke 1981. •Valid as Callionymus africanus (Kotthaus 1977) -- (Fricke 1982:59 [ref. 5432], Fricke 1983:64 [ref. 8349], Fricke 2002:11 [ref. 26547], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S117 [ref. 27377], Fricke & Golani 2013:278 [ref. 32697], Fricke et al. 2014:4, 11, 12, 14 [ref. 33442], Fricke 2016:48, 49 [ref. 34468], Fricke & Anderson 2022:447 [ref. 39659]). Current status: Valid as Callionymus africanus (Kotthaus 1977). Callionymidae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania) and Seamount on Chain Ridge at 6°58'N, 52°05'E. Habitat: marine.
