Paratypes: AMS I.15557-287 (1), I.16232-001 (2, 1 c&s), I.16895-001 (1), I.16896-001 (1), 17818-001 (1); CSIRO A 2521 (1). •Valid as Apogon albimaculosus Kailola 1976 -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:68 [ref. 25477], Paxton et al. 1989:545 [ref. 12442], Allen 1997:104 [ref. 23977], Larson & Williams 1997:356 [ref. 23967], Allen 1999:2605 [ref. 24812], Hutchins 2001:31 [ref. 25847], Fraser 2006:140 [ref. 28665], Allen et al. 2006:1083 [ref. 29004], Larson et al. 2013:109 [ref. 32988]). •Valid as Foa albimaculosa (Kailola 1976) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:379 [ref. 31980], Mabuchi et al. 2014:196 [ref. 33426]). •Valid as Ozichthys albimaculosus (Kailola 1976) -- (Fraser 2014:285 [ref. 33453], Mabuchi et al. 2015:42 [ref. 34429]). Current status: Valid as Ozichthys albimaculosus (Kailola 1976). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Australia and Papua New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
