C.] 1962:440, Figs. 3A-C; Pls. 1(2-3), 2 (6-8) [Revue de Biologie, Académie de la République Populaire Roumaine, Bucarest v. 6 (no. 4) [for 1961]; ref. 6454] Río Arlanzón, tributary of Río Duero (Atlantic basin), at Cardena-Jimeno and "La Gravera", Spain. Holotype: MGAB 49415 [ex MGAB 7]. Paratypes: MGAB 7 (59, with holotype); MOM 0091-2512 (3). Additional material: BMNH 1964.12.23.1-2 (2) Toja River. Specific locality for holotype unknown (see Kottelat 1997:87 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Cobitis taenia Linnaeus 1758, but a valid subspecies -- (Lelek 1987:247 [ref. 22962]). •Valid as Cobitis calderoni Băcescu 1962 -- (Kottelat 1997:87 [ref. 22952] with genus tentative, Leunda et al. 29210:13 [ref. 29210], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:306 [ref. 29996], Kottelat 2012:25 [ref. 32367], Eagderi et al. 2017:50 [ref. 35199], Doadrio et al. 2023:[19] [ref. 40299]). Current status: Valid as Cobitis calderoni Băcescu 1962. Cobitidae. Distribution: Southwestern Europe: northern Portugal and northern Spain. Habitat: freshwater.
