Holotype: USNM 84491. Paratypes: USNM 74330 (3), 152733 (1), 153088 (1), 153090 (1), 153097 (1). •Valid as Symphurus parvus Ginsburg 1951 -- (de Lema & de Oliveira 1977:5 [ref. 7244], Robins & Ray 1986:297 [ref. 23100], Boschung 1992:177 [ref. 23239], Munroe 1998:82 [ref. 23285], Schmitter-Soto et al. 2000:170 [ref. 27754], Munroe 2003:1950 [ref. 27118], Nelson et al. 2004:183 [ref. 27807], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:880 [ref. 28815], Page et al. 2023:135 [ref. 40505], Fricke et al. 2024:358 [ref. 41622]). Current status: Valid as Symphurus parvus Ginsburg 1951. Cynoglossidae: Symphurinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: North Carolina (U.S.A.) south to Trinidad and Tobago, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
