Neotype designated by Vachon et al. 2008:21 [ref. 29607]. •Synonym of Solea vulgaris Quensel 1806, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Torchio 1973:628 [ref. 6892], Quéro et al. in Whitehead et al. 1986:1318 [ref. 13677], Desoutter 1986:431 [ref. 6212]). •Synonym of Solea solea (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Ben-Tuvia 1990:949 [ref. 15614]). •Valid as Solea aegyptiaca Chabanaud 1927 -- (Borsa & Quignard 2001:2301 [ref. 25908], Desoutter et al. 2001:347 [ref. 25922], Vachon et al. 2005:318 [ref. 29620], Vachon et al. 2008:21 [ref. 29607], Lipej & Dulčić 2010:74 [ref. 36649] as aegyptica, Chanet et al. 2012:581 [ref. 34114], Golani et al. 2014:321 [ref. 33139], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[22] 260 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:175 [ref. 36273]).
