Based on specimens of Allomycterus jaculiferus of McCulloch 1921:141; holotype of A pilatus is based on the illustration of A. jaculiferus, Pl. 23 (fig. 2) [ref. 2945]. •Valid as Allomycterus pilatus Whitley 1931 -- (Matsuura in Amaoka et al. 1990:335 [ref. 16024], Kuiter 1993:424 [ref. 23929], Gomon et al. 1994:913 [ref. 22532], Hutchins 2001:48 [ref. 25847], Leis 2006:86 [ref. 28932], Bray et al. 2006:1931 [ref. 29091], Gomon 2008:857 [ref. 30616], Leis 2015:1742 [ref. 34323], Hoschke et al. 2019:161 [ref. 36626]). Current status: Valid as Allomycterus pilatus Whitley 1931. Diodontidae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean, southwestern Pacific: Western Australia to Tasman Sea, Australia and New Zealand.
