plagusia, Pleuronectes Bloch [M. E.] & Schneider [J. G.] (ex Browne) 1801:162 [M. E. Blochii, Systema Ichthyologiae; ref. 471] Puerto Yabucoa, .5 miles east of Playa de Guayanes, Puerto Rico. Neotype: ANSP 132030. Based on Plagusia subcinerea of Brown 1756:445 [ref. 30188] and Browne 1789:445 from Jamaica; suppressed for nomenclatural purposes (Opinion 89, Direction 32) as non-binominal work. Neotype designated by Munroe 1991 [ref. 15142]. •Valid as Symphurus plagusia (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Matsuura in Uyeno et al. 1983:463 [ref. 14275], Munroe 1991:256 [ref. 15142], Kurtz & Matsuura 1994:141 [ref. 22162], Andreata & Séret 1996:590 [ref. 16204], Greenfield & Thomerson 1997:252 [ref. 22947], Munroe 1998:136 [ref. 23285], Munroe 2003:1954 [ref. 27118], Menezes & Figueiredo in Menezes et al. 2003:108 [ref. 27192], Rotundo et al. in Marceniuk et al. 2021:407 [ref. 38945]). Current status: Valid as Symphurus plagusia (Bloch & Schneider 1801). Cynoglossidae: Symphurinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic. Habitat: brackish, marine.
